Happy Belated Birthday to LISA! Hope you had a wonderful birthday, and are enjoying your family.
Was that Deb in Detroit's birthday the other day, too??? Happy happy...and continued thanks for the great Rochester Hills Broadfest!
I'm at least on the right date for Grape's b'day! Happy Purply Day, sweetie!
Y'all know I am not one to encourage writing complaint letters to the media....I tend to think they backfire, and are used to further fuel the hate.
But, I have become accostomed to writing 'thank you' letters, when I appreciate a journalists' effort in describing/interviewing Clay. I wrote one of those to Sean Daly, of the St. Petersburg Times, to thank him, and I received a nice reply!
Here's what I wrote:
Mr. Daly,
Thank you for the interesting article about Clay Aiken. I'm a Clay fan who abhors being referred to as a "claymate," and I found you at least seemed to try to look below the surface of this interesting and talented young man. Plus, I loved your description of Clay's laugh...not only did you describe it with humor, but you captured perhaps a bit of metaphor about this guy....he seems to be something of an enigma, made up of an array of persona's, and I hope to be following his career for a very long time.
Sorry you don't seem to 'get' the power of Clay's voice...but appreciate you seemed respectful in your snark.
Next time, please include an audio clip of that laugh!
Thanks,

Then, today, I received his reply:
Thanks so much for the note. Readers often come to my stories with preconceived notions, opinions, etc. In other words, they see what they want to see. I imagine some "detractors" do the same thing with Clay. They don't give the guy a chance.
So thanks for appreciating the "nuances" of my story. If there was snark, there was also praise. And let it be known that I found Clay to be charming, funny, and self-effacing. So I certainly learned something as well.
So again, thanks for reaching out (and please keep reading!)

I'd call that a Win Win Situation!
The CH stream went out during the first vignette!!!! But, before that, the crowd sounded enthusiastic, and Alison sounded congested....like she has a cold.
Holiday Hugs all around!
Is anyone else feeling sort of hung over from Xmas? I only had one smallish glass of wine, but the staying up late, the extra eating, the fuss and stress....I feel exhausted!
Ooops...just while I've been typing this, CH got the stream back, and lost it again. Think we're in for a rocky night.
I'm very excited for all our Florida Broads...you've been waiting patiently (bwah!) for a long time, and hope you get full satisfaction this week!
Oooohhh...stream is back...Christmas Serenade...connection not great, but, *sigh* it's soooo goood to hear Clay's voice 'live.'
I LOVE LBFCA!
I LOVE CLAY AIKEN ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!
