After dragging myself into work today an hour late, dreading getting back into the drudgery, I was met with an e-mail from my buddy JOANNE about the "interview". So I hi-tailed myself in here to find the link. This is how I replied to Jo:

~~~ OK, I read it. My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is that he will never stop performing. He's done it all his life. He loves it. He thrives on it. Now, what direction he will take as far as that performing is concerned is anyone's guess. But I truly don't think we have to worry about him giving it up altogether. It's in his blood now.
I can understand what he means though, about not changing lives. With the one-on-one contact he had with Michael and other kids before, he could SEE the direct outcome of his efforts. He doesn't see that now. And I'm sure he misses it. But I think God has bigger plans for him. There have to be those people who are leaders. The ones who make things happen. The ones who stir the rest of us to action. The people who remove us from our state of inertia to a state of action - to DO something, no matter how big or small that something is. I believe Clay was pre-destined to be one of those people. And I believe God gave him that glorious voice so that he would be noticed. So that people would PAY ATTENTION to what he has to say, to the example that he sets.
The gorgeous face and the sexay hotness is just gravy. And I love me some gravy. ~~~
Then I find this quote from the article that MGM PAT (not bein' bad for a change!)linked:
"once all the records sales, tour dates and donations are tallied, Aiken's example to remove the stigma of disabilities may be his most notable accomplishment as an entertainer."
So, that about sums it up! LEWD, you get him upside the head, JO gets the arm hair, and I'll pull his leg fuzzies! (Not that people!) Or maybe his Mama needs to just "snatch him bald headed"!
Also LEWD, ya need to hook me up with your SC sis! I'm there, uh, here too! (Sometimes I'm neither here nor there!)
CAROLEZ - Unfortunately I wasn't able to make Raleigh. That was just JOANNE and her enabler hubby. After watching the vid of BSoB, it's probably a good thing. I don't think my heart could have stood it!
I'm not gonna write a BEVR for Columbia, cuz JO & NIS pretty much covered everything. I don't know what I could add that wouldn't be redundant. I will say this though, it was totally cool sharing this experience with a Clay fan of like mind. It seems the same little nuances affected us the same way - little sideways glances to each other that said "Did you see that???"...oooh, fun times.
Guess I'm gonna have to make my own Clay calendar this year. So, let's see, what months shall I have?
jan/fed - boohoonoclayUARY mar/apr - needcdfromclAYPRIL may/june - tourcomingSUNE july-sept - atourtoremEMBER october - uh, i got nuthin' nov/dec - JNT 2006 IS HERE!
CLAY YA LATER, BROADS!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAPE
You need to come back and play with us again.
United Press International has an article that Clay should read. This might help convince him he is making a difference. Maybe it's one step at a time ...one person at a time but a difference he is making.
LEWD, loved your sister's story. Was she able to see him from that third row seat?
I LOVE CLAY AIKEN
Joanne NC. . . Meanie! That is too funny! I'm going to slap him up side the head and you're going to pull the hair on his arms! Nothing like compassionate Broads! ha,ha,ha,ha!
I consider him my angel and I wish I could tell him how he saved my sister in S.C.'s life! Her DH believes it too. Sorry for the long post, but this is a true angel Clay story! I'm sure there are plenty more out there.
This summer Carol called me and said her eyes were messed up and she couldn't see well and was worried because in 3 wks we were going to see Clay! Dumb me told her it was probably old age, and we had 3rd row seats and she'd see him just fine. She said "No, they're really bad and I HAVE to see Clay, and I want to see him really good. Said she called the doctor right away and told the receptionist how she had tickets to see Clay and how important it was to get in right away. The woman was a Clay fan and understood completely! Turned out she had severe diabetes and didn't even know it. Her level was like 580 or something? (I think 100 is normal) and they said she probably would have gone into a coma in another week. She would never have hurried to get to the doctor, but she had to see her Clay!!!
I had just lost my mother and one sister and I think God sent us this angel because he knew we needed one. Sending me one with an angelic voice is one thing...but on top of that to get a hawt one with gorgeous eyes, mouth, tongue, gorgeous everything, and wears stripey socks! He took care of me! And he told me to slap my angel up side the head when he says he doesn't change anyone's life.
Nancy ...thanks for the heads-up about the jerk DJ from WROZ in Lancaster. I too fired off an eMail to the General Manager. I'm very disappointed, as WROZ is the only station I listen to,they played Clay's Christmas music, and seemed to support him more than other stations in this area.
Belated birthday greetings to Deb in Detroit (How did I miss that?) and Happy Birthday today to Grape! Ah, brings back great memories of Rochester Hills and Clio this summer! Mwah!
A big EEEEEE to all of tonight's concert-goers. There's just something so fitting about seeing Clay at the Rock Hard Hard Rock! Enjoy!!
Heads up to any Broads living in southcentral PA who get the radio station WROZ-FM (The Rose). The substitute male morning dj, Tom Richards, made a very nasty remark about Clay's sexuality on the air this morning. He said: "It's a good thing the new American Idol format of one night all male/ one night all female wasn't available for Clay Aiken, because he wouldn't know which group to choose." When the female half of the team said that the Clay fans will be really upset, Mr. Richards commented: "I really don't care. I don't like Clay Aiken."
I'm off to write a letter to the general manager. Contact information can be found at www.roseradio.com, if anyone's interested.
I'm usually not one to make a "stink", but in this case, regardless of whether of not this asshat likes Clay, his remarks were totally uncalled for on the air.
