After dragging myself into work today an hour late, dreading getting back into the drudgery, I was met with an e-mail from my buddy JOANNE about the "interview". So I hi-tailed myself in here to find the link. This is how I replied to Jo:

OK, I read it. My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is that he will never stop performing. He's done it all his life. He loves it. He thrives on it. Now, what direction he will take as far as that performing is concerned is anyone's guess. But I truly don't think we have to worry about him giving it up altogether. It's in his blood now.
I can understand what he means though, about not changing lives. With the one-on-one contact he had with Michael and other kids before, he could SEE the direct outcome of his efforts. He doesn't see that now. And I'm sure he misses it. But I think God has bigger plans for him. There have to be those people who are leaders. The ones who make things happen. The ones who stir the rest of us to action. The people who remove us from our state of inertia to a state of action - to DO something, no matter how big or small that something is. I believe Clay was pre-destined to be one of those people. And I believe God gave him that glorious voice so that he would be noticed. So that people would PAY ATTENTION to what he has to say, to the example that he sets.
The gorgeous face and the sexay hotness is just gravy. And I love me some gravy.

Then I find this quote from the article that MGM PAT (not bein' bad for a change!)linked:
"once all the records sales, tour dates and donations are tallied, Aiken's example to remove the stigma of disabilities may be his most notable accomplishment as an entertainer."
So, that about sums it up! LEWD, you get him upside the head, JO gets the arm hair, and I'll pull his leg fuzzies! (Not that people!) Or maybe his Mama needs to just "snatch him bald headed"!
Also LEWD, ya need to hook me up with your SC sis! I'm there, uh, here too! (Sometimes I'm neither here nor there!)
CAROLEZ - Unfortunately I wasn't able to make Raleigh. That was just JOANNE and her enabler hubby. After watching the vid of BSoB, it's probably a good thing. I don't think my heart could have stood it!
I'm not gonna write a BEVR for Columbia, cuz JO & NIS pretty much covered everything. I don't know what I could add that wouldn't be redundant. I will say this though, it was totally cool sharing this experience with a Clay fan of like mind. It seems the same little nuances affected us the same way - little sideways glances to each other that said "Did you see that???"...oooh, fun times.
Guess I'm gonna have to make my own Clay calendar this year. So, let's see, what months shall I have?
